How to Live Stream a Christening

How to stream a christening or baptism for family who cannot attend. Covers church setup, privacy, and sharing the stream with family.

Christenings and baptisms are joyful family occasions that distant relatives often miss. A simple live stream lets grandparents, godparents, and friends share the moment from wherever they are.

Keeping it simple

A christening stream does not need a complex setup. A smartphone on a small tripod positioned with a clear view of the font or baptismal area is sufficient. Use the church Wi-Fi or your phone mobile data.

Make sure the audio captures the priest or minister. If the church has a sound system, connect to it. If not, position yourself close enough for the phone microphone to pick up the words clearly.

Privacy

Use a private stream link shared only with family and friends. A public stream is not appropriate for a baby christening. Most platforms let you create a private event with a unique link.

If using a ticketed platform, set the price to zero but keep the event private. This gives you a controlled access list without charging family members.

The replay

Record the stream and share the replay with the family afterwards. This becomes a treasured keepsake alongside the christening photos. Some families appreciate having a downloadable file rather than just online access.

Share the moment
