Churches across Ireland and the UK have been streaming services for years, mostly on YouTube and Facebook. That works well for the regular Sunday service. It works less well for the special services where parishioners abroad would gladly pay to watch a confirmation, a wedding, a milestone anniversary, or a Christmas Eve service. PassCast lets a parish run a mix of free public streams and paid private streams under one branded page, with revenue going directly to the parish account.
Two streams under one roof
A typical parish using PassCast keeps its regular Sunday service on YouTube where parishioners are already used to finding it. The PassCast page is reserved for the events with a wider, more distant audience. A confirmation where families abroad want to see their godchild. A wedding where guests overseas could not travel. A Christmas Eve carol service where the diaspora wants to feel the parish home through the screen.
For each of those events, the parish creates an event page, sets a small ticket price (typically £3 to £10), and the link goes out in the parish newsletter and on social media. Parishioners abroad who want to watch buy a ticket. The revenue goes directly to the parish account through Stripe.
Branded for the parish
The parish controls the look of the page. Parish name, logo, primary colour, and a description of each event. The viewer experience matches the rest of the parish's digital presence rather than dropping people onto a generic streaming platform. Channel-tier parishes can run the whole thing on a custom domain (for example tv.parishname.ie) for the most polished setup.
Working with diocesan media offices
Several dioceses run media offices that handle streaming setups across multiple parishes. PassCast is set up to support that model through the Channel and Enterprise tiers, where a single account can manage multiple parish events with shared infrastructure and consolidated billing. Diocesan media officers can contact PassCast to discuss volume terms.

Visit the Community HubFrequently asked questions
Should a parish charge for a Sunday service livestream?
No. PassCast is not for regular Sunday services. Free public streaming on YouTube remains the right answer for that. PassCast is for the special events with a clearly defined audience that justifies a small ticket price, such as confirmations, weddings, milestone services, and Christmas Eve services.
How much does PassCast cost for a parish?
Free to set up on the Community tier. The parish pays nothing until parishioners buy tickets. The platform takes 20% of ticket revenue. Parishes running multiple paid events a year often move to the Channel tier for a fixed monthly fee and a lower revenue share.
Can the parish keep the existing YouTube stream for Sunday Mass?
Yes. PassCast does not replace the existing free streaming setup. The parish runs both: YouTube for the regular service, PassCast for the paid special events. The two systems do not interfere with each other.
How do parishioners abroad pay?
Stripe handles international cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay automatically. A parishioner in the United States, Australia, or anywhere else with internet access and a card can buy a ticket. The parish does not need to do anything to enable international sales.
Is PassCast suitable for Catholic, Church of Ireland, Methodist, and other denominations?
Yes. PassCast is denomination-neutral. The platform is in active conversations with parishes across multiple Christian denominations and the setup is the same regardless. The parish controls the language, branding, and tone of the event pages.
Can the diocese run multiple parishes under one account?
Yes, on the Channel or Enterprise tier. A diocesan media office can manage events across multiple parishes from a single PassCast account, with consolidated billing and shared infrastructure. Contact the team to discuss the right setup.
