Stripe Connect is the technology that lets streaming platforms process payments on your behalf while sending the money directly to your own Stripe account. If you are evaluating streaming platforms, understanding Stripe Connect is essential.
How Stripe Connect works
When a viewer buys a ticket, the payment goes through Stripe. With Stripe Connect, the money lands in your own Stripe account, not the platform account. The platform takes its share (a percentage or fixed fee) as an automatic deduction.
This means you have full visibility of every transaction in your own Stripe dashboard. You can see who paid, when, and how much. You do not need to chase the platform for payouts or wait for end-of-month settlements.
Why direct payouts matter
Platforms that collect money on your behalf and pay you out later create a cash flow delay. You might wait days or weeks to receive your earnings. With Stripe Connect, the money is in your account within the standard Stripe payout window, typically 2 to 7 business days.
Direct payouts also reduce counterparty risk. If the platform goes out of business, your money is already in your account, not stuck in theirs.
Setting up Stripe Connect
The streaming platform handles the technical integration. From your side, you just need to connect your Stripe account by clicking an "Authorize" button and logging into Stripe. The platform cannot access your Stripe account directly; it can only process transactions on your behalf.
If you do not have a Stripe account, you can create one during the connection process. You will need your bank details and a form of identification.
Your money, your account
PassCast uses Stripe Connect Standard so viewer payments go directly to your own Stripe account. You see every transaction, you control your funds.
