How to Live Stream a Tennis Match

How to set up a live stream for tennis matches and tournaments. Covers camera angles, court positioning, and streaming multiple courts.

Tennis tournaments at club and regional level are increasingly being streamed, both for spectators and for competitive analysis. The compact playing area makes tennis relatively simple to stream with a single camera.

Camera position

The ideal camera position for tennis is behind the baseline, elevated above the net. This gives a clear view of both players and the full court. A position on the umpire side of the court avoids shooting into the sun in the afternoon.

If you are streaming multiple matches at a tournament, consider one fixed camera per court with individual RTMP feeds to separate events on your platform.

Tracking the action

Tennis rallies require smooth panning between players. A fluid-head tripod is essential. Practice tracking a rally before going live to find a comfortable panning speed.

During changeovers, pull the camera back to a wide shot showing the full court. This is a natural rest moment for the operator and gives viewers context.

Tournament streaming

For multi-day tournaments, stream the marquee matches live and offer replays of other matches on demand. This reduces the number of simultaneous streams you need to manage while still covering the full draw.

Tournament organisers can sell day passes or match-by-match tickets depending on the format and expected audience.
