How to Live Stream a Wedding

Everything you need to live stream a wedding ceremony. Covers camera setup, audio, internet, and delivering the experience to remote guests.

Wedding live streaming has become a permanent fixture, not just for destination weddings or pandemic restrictions, but for any couple with family and friends scattered around the world. A well-executed stream lets everyone share the moment.

Camera and audio setup

Position a camera at the back of the venue with a clear view of the altar, arch, or ceremony area. Use a tripod for stability and zoom in to frame the couple during the ceremony.

Audio is critical for weddings. The vows, the readings, and the music are the emotional core of the event. Take a feed from the venue sound system or use a wireless microphone near the officiant.

Internet at the venue

Wedding venues vary enormously in connectivity. Some have excellent Wi-Fi; others are in rural locations with no broadband. Test the internet at the venue during a site visit and plan a backup (mobile hotspot) if the primary connection is unreliable.

Sharing with guests

Create a private stream link and include it in the wedding invitations or on the wedding website. Some couples send a separate "virtual invitation" to guests who cannot attend in person.

Make the link accessible without account creation or app downloads. Remote wedding guests span all ages and technical abilities. The simpler the access, the more people will watch.
